FREE ONLINE TOOL / SOCIAL SHARING

Open Graph checker.

See the actual social metadata behind a public website and explore illustrative Facebook, LinkedIn and X card layouts — with missing tags clearly marked.

Verified tag values Three share layouts Safe HTML recommendations

Give every shared link better context.

Open Graph tags let you suggest a title, description, image and canonical share URL. Twitter Card tags can provide platform-specific alternatives. This checker reads available page metadata through MediaHarvester and labels fallbacks explicitly.

A missing tag is not inferred from how a social website happens to display a link. The cards are local illustrative previews, not official Facebook, LinkedIn or X renderers.

Open Graph questions.

Does this fetch the exact Facebook or LinkedIn preview?

No. Social networks can cache metadata, transform images and choose their own crops. The tool presents local layout approximations with actual source values and explicit fallbacks.

Why does an OG image not appear automatically?

Loading an externally hosted image sends a request to its host. To protect privacy, this tool asks before loading remote preview images. Its metadata API does not verify image HTTP status.

What size should my Open Graph image be?

1200 × 630 pixels is a common starting point for a landscape OG image. Exact card crops and requirements depend on the platform and can change.

Does a canonical link count as og:url?

No. Both may point to the same preferred URL, but they are distinct HTML fields. We keep canonical fallbacks separate and label them in preview details.

Do missing Twitter Card tags always break X previews?

No. X may fall back to Open Graph metadata, and observed behavior depends on the platform. The tool shows which actual fields exist and which fallbacks are illustrative.
