Frequently asked questions

Is this YouTube transcript tool really free?

Yes. Up to ten successful transcript requests per public IP per UTC day are free. The counter resets at midnight UTC. Requests that cannot return captions are not intended to count against your daily allowance.

What if the video has no captions?

We use MediaHarvester to request existing available caption tracks. If the requested language or video has no accessible captions, the tool explains the limitation rather than inventing text.

Are the transcripts always accurate?

No. Automatic captions can mishear names, technical terms and accents. For quotations or sensitive information, always verify the original video.

Can I download subtitles?

Yes. Once captions are available, choose TXT for plain text, SRT for SubRip subtitles or VTT for WebVTT. Timestamp links take you back to the source video.
